The EPH (English, Political Science and History) program at the department integrates multi-disciplinary approaches to the Humanities and Social Sciences. It reinforces the symbiotic relationship between social and political histories, philosophies of the State and nationhood, varied discourses of culture, and the relevance of narrativizing these elements through the process of reading and writing literature. This combination of subjects, offered over 3 years of the B.A. Course, aims to equip students with the ability to address critical questions concerning contemporary social and political thought, comprehend and challenge established notions of the historical interventions into questions of individual and collective identities, and deploy literary readings and theoretical concepts in a wide array of careers ranging from creative and research writing to administration, political reform, public policy intervention and activism.
Program Structure – BA Political Science Honours
B.A. Honours Program in Political Science at Bangalore Bannerghatta Road Campus, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) equips the students to understand affairs of state in three ways: first, by excelling in advanced theoretical and application-oriented curriculum; second, by experiencing political, administrative and policy field through internships; and third, by harnessing the practical world of domestic and international politics to develop original thought while doing dissertation research projects. Skills to be imparted are critical and analytical skills, research skills, public speaking, crisis management and decision making.
Programme Outcome
The Political Science Honours programme is a four-year programme, having Economics and Media Studies as allied subjects, which will facilitate the students to expand their perspectives towards socio-economic and political phenomenon, at national as well as international level. Students will be exposed to critical intellectual thinking from an interdisciplinary perspective.
By the end of the programme students should be able to:

PO1. Academic expertise:
Exhibit academic expertise in the discipline’s seminal scholarly work with guided inquiries in the discipline’s areas of focus and put theoretical notions into practice through class discussions, presentations, and research output.
PO2.Critical Thinking:
Recognize, analyze, problematize, and engage with the structures underlying societies and communities, raise questions based on academic inquiry, and take informed actions reflected in class discussions, presentations, engaged participation in research, and internships.
PO3.Effective Communication & Social Interaction:
Communicate and operate effectively in multicultural spaces, function as collaborating members/leaders in teams in multidisciplinary settings, and engage sensitively with diverse socio-cultural contexts.
PO4. Ethics & Effective Citizenship:
Act with an informed awareness of issues, engage in initiatives that encourage equity and growth for all, respect different value systems, and engage with diversity and politicization in constructs of national/global identity and responsibilities reflected in their engagements with peers, society, class engagements, theory and practice.
PO5. Environment and Sustainability:
Demonstrate awareness of local, regional, national, and global needs and engage with their socio-cultural contexts along with environmental needs and concerns and demonstrate the close engagement with immediate communities and its documentation through class presentations and activities.
PO6. Self-directed and Life-long Learning:
Engage in continual learning, develop leadership skills, work on career enhancement, and adapt to changing professional and societal needs and can be familiarized through internships, practice-based research activities, extracurricular and association activities and placements.
Applicants may apply online for the programme from 8th December 2023 on the University website till the date of applications officially closing.
Applications for each programme will close approximately a week before the scheduled selection process.
All applicants must visit the page: https://appstat.christuniversity.in and register by entering NAME (as printed on Class 10 Marks Card), EMAIL-ID and set a password. (The email id and mobile number provided will be used for sending confirmation and application status-update messages). An applicant can apply for as many programmes using the same ID as long as the prescribed eligibility criteria for the specific programme is fulfilled.

Note: The International Student category fee structure is binding for the full duration of the programme and cannot be transferred /changed in between.
Candidates from the above listed categories having pursued Indian Educational qualification and who may have applied under the Indian States Category will have to pay the International Student Category Fee. The decision of the Admission committee is final.
Candidates seeking admission through International Student category (Foreign Nationals/PIO/OCI) will have a separate application process, with the following options to apply for any programme at Christ University.

Selection process results will be available on https://espro.christuniversity.in/Application/ according to the important dates section. Selected candidates will receive an E-Offer of admission that will be valid up to the date mentioned in the Offer of admission.
All selected candidates must note that admission is provisional and subject to University rules.
Selected candidates must download the offer of admission on the ‘Application Status’ link on the University website.
Selected applicants must download the E-Admission Card and be personally present at the Office of Admissions of the selected campus with all original marks cards and one set of photocopies to be submitted for verification at the time of admission. Parents (at least one parent) are requested to accompany the student for the admission process
An undertaking for pending original documents unavailable currently [applicable only for candidates writing/passing their exam in March – June – 2024], must be submitted to the Office of Admissions. These documents must be submitted on or before 30 August 2024.
All admitted students must open an account at South Indian Bank, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Branch as part of the admission process and must carry relevant ID proof (Aadhar Card and Pan Card).
The University ID card is a smart card, which is both an ID cum ATM card with a chip containing the student personal details. All transactions within the University campus after the commencement of classes, including fee payment, will be processed only through this card. It is also an access card for Library and other restricted places.
Selected candidates who fall under International student category (ISC) should register with the Foreigner Regional Registration Officer (FRRO / FRO) of the Local Police in Bengaluru, India within 14 working days from the date of admission or arriving in Bengaluru.

# The fee for Karnataka domicile students, as indicated in the table, is the actual fee payable and excludes the scholarship amount.
