Vision

The leadership chair was set up as part of an initiative of the former Vice Chancellor – Fr Thomas C Mathew and an alumnus of CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Mr Adman Praveen Kenneth. Mr. Kenneth wanted to give something valuable back to the Institution that had positively influenced him through his journey of success. Being a staunch believer in the philosophy that everyone can be a leader, Mr Praveen Kenneth expressed his desire to set up a leadership chair to bring real leadership to the forefront of conversations and engagement and to create awareness among the students of the university of the importance of personal and social leadership, in their lives and thereby contributing to societal demands. The chair is supported by veteran Adman Praveen Kenneth, Chairman of Elohim and Kenneth Ventures Pvt. Ltd and founder Chairman & Managing Director of Law & Kenneth Saatchi & Saatchi, with a vision to bring leadership to the forefront of conversations and engagement

Our Model

Praveen Kenneth Chair on Leadership proposes to operate using a triangular model (see Fig. 1) that functions with a core belief on Authenticity (living life based on inner values and character strengths rather than societal demands) aligned towards addressing the vision of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Excellence and Service and the mission of The Leadership Chair, to create empowered leaders for today and tomorrow (leadership culture). Dr Tony Sam George

Chief Mentor

Dr Tony Sam George holds various leadership positions in the University. He is the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, Head of the Department of Psychology, Additional Director, Centre for Research. He serves as the Chief mentor for the Leadership Chair. He has over two decades of clinical and teaching experience. He has also received a leadership training in ‘Academic Leadership’ at Harvard Graduate School of Education. Dr George serves as a positive source, resource, knowledge and as an advisor to help the leadership chair reach its goals.

Dr. Fr. Lijo Thomas

Core Team Member

Dr Fr. Lijo Thomas is currently serving with Christ University, Bangalore, India, heading the Office of International Affairs, the Student Welfare Office, the Center for Academic and Professional Support and the Department of Performing Arts, Music and Theatre as Director. He has been contributing his services as Assistant Professor of the School of Social Sciences. He is also the Founder/Director of DREAMS: A community-university collaborative service-learning project established in the USA and India. He did his doctorate on the same project at the University of Louisiana, Monroe, USA. He is also the Founder/Director of Let Us Dream Community Conference which was established in 2017 to connect diverse community service initiatives, scholars, and post-secondary students for further empowering local communities for sustainable impact and improvement.

Dr. Georgy Kurien

Core Team Member

Dr Georgy Kurien is the Associate Dean at the School of Business and Management. He teaches Supply Chain Management and Sustainable Business to MBA students and guides Ph D Scholars. Before joining academia in 2010, Dr Georgy Kurien was serving the Indian Army as a commissioned officer. Col. Kurien held prestigious military appointments in Command, Instructional and Staff, both during operations and peace. Colonel Kurien also had a tenure with DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation), teaching stints at Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune; VIVES University, Belgium and Gujarat University.
