Centre for Counselling and Health Services

The Centre for Counselling & Health Services (CCHS) is a student support service functioning under the Director of Student Services.

Role

The Centre aims at helping students to make proper adjustments in academic pursuit and pursue holistic development in alignment with the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of the institution.

The counsellors motivate students to excel in their academic and cocurricular activities. They oversee performance and engagement levels to provide suitable and timely guidance when required.

The services provided by the Centre is a professional activity wherein the counsellors strive to create a safe, non-judgemental, and congenial atmosphere for the benefit of students. The Centre has also created a calendar of activities to promote healthy behaviours and positive living skills.

History

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is one of the pioneers to introduce the concept of counselling service in higher education institutions (HEIs) in 1995 with just one counsellor. In 2008, the Centre took its current form with a structured form of functioning. The next significant milestone in the history of the Centre was the introduction of full time medical services and staff counselling.

The visionary step taken in 1995 has today led to a university counselling services model that stands apart due to its decades of evolution and the dynamic ability of curating activities to suit changing trends in society, especially the youth population.
